CareerCompass

Most students graduate with a degree and zero idea how to actually get a job. Career centers are understaffed, advice is generic, and job searching feels like sending resumes into a void. CareerCompass is the AI career coach I wish I had — built during undergrad to give every student personalized, honest, and actionable guidance.

Why career advice fails most students

Generic career advice is everywhere. Truly personalized career guidance — the kind that understands your specific background, goals, skill gaps, and target industry — costs hundreds of dollars per hour or requires knowing exactly the right person.

First-generation students and international students are at the biggest disadvantage. They don't have parents who've navigated corporate hiring. They don't have alumni networks that open doors. They're talented, driven, and deserve better than a 20-minute appointment with an overbooked career counselor.

CareerCompass was built to democratize access to the kind of career coaching that used to be reserved for those with the right connections.

What

An AI-powered career guidance chatbot that helps students navigate job searching, resume building, interview preparation, and career path planning — personalized to their specific goals, background, and target roles.

Why

Career outcomes should not depend on who you know or whether your university can afford enough career counselors. AI can deliver genuine 1:1 guidance at massive scale — for the first time making great career coaching truly accessible to everyone.

Who

Undergraduate students — especially first-generation college students and international students — navigating job markets they don't fully understand, without a built-in professional network to lean on.

How we measure success

Resume improvement scores pre/post · Mock interview completion rate · Job application rate post-session · User-reported confidence increase · Career clarity score improvement.
